Sewing Patterns... Not the Kind You Think.

I have a pattern or process I generally do while doing a sewing project. & since I'm a n00b, I find it especially funny. It goes:
*OOOOOHHH. That looks neat!!
* Dig up old clothes/fabric.
*Try it reading NO directions or tutorial. (Sometimes not even measuring.)
"Uh oh....."
*Take apart
*Try again reading some directions
"Not too bad but...."
*Take apart
*Try again reading directions as I go.
"Yay!! It only took me 3 tries!"

Regardless, I am quite awesome w/ a seam ripper.

Here is a jean skirt I made. I had to take it apart about 4 times. BUT, was worth it. Looks neat & I got to use those dumb pregnancy jeans I spent so much $$ on.

D'oh!
Anyway, My name is Maggie. Recently, I have put down my reading material & begun crafting like a maniac. I wanted this blog to document my triumphs.... & mistakes. Lest I never repeat them!
I recently started to teach myself to sew. I have not done anything w/ patterns yet. But, I am having much fun creating new things out of old things.
I generally am a collage "artist". I use magazines, stock photos etc. I try to tell a story or have a theme w/ my collages.
Here is my latest:
